Introverted Networking: How to Fake Being a Social Butterfly

Jan 15, 2018 | Commentary

Social networking is the concept of interacting with people at an event, introducing yourself in hopes of making meaningful career connections with them. Social networking can be hard for people who are not “extroverted” because they are shy and can’t really connect with people. The article mentions these challenges and also talks about how people fake being a social butterfly in order to connect in such environments. Though from an outsider it may see thats in their character, they fake it because it is the only way they can make it.

Key Takeaways:

  • Networking is rough for most people but it is worthwhile to meet others in your industry.
  • Play with group size to see how you interact one-on-one vs with a group of three or more
  • Always remember you are the face and voice of your brand while you are at these events.

“Prepare and play out interactions in your head. See what you have in common with your lead, it will make you more comfortable around them.”
